Your culture attendant: things to do in London

PRICE: Price of a pint
TIME: 1-2 hours
On this day in 1814, in a brewery on Tottenham Court Road - on the site of the current Dominion Theatre - a rupture caused a series of vast beer vats to spill their contents, resulting in a tidal wave of over two million pints of beer surging into the neighbouring streets. The beer flooded the nearby Bloomsbury slums, destroyed two buildings, and resulted in the deaths of eight people. Commemorate the event at the nearby Holborn Whippet, which often brews a special beer for the occasion.
